mysa hus

“Mysa” roughly translates to coziness in Swedish. This builder client had this origin in mind, along with wellness, when developing a site within an established lake neighborhood. Oho Interiors collaborated from the start to help bring the concept to life.

The design inspiration for the home draws from traditional colonial forms and the iconic symmetry of the saltbox. The rear elevation incorporates a series of bump-outs that allow natural light to flood each south-facing room, including the mudroom, built-in dining buffet, and sitting room. A pool and wellness space, while separate from the house, maintain a cozy extension of the home within the deep backyard through a series of outdoor rooms.

Materials selected to support wellness and everyday living include high-performance insulation, triple-pane windows, and natural interior finishes. Design and intention are evident in every decision throughout the home.

The finished result is a stunning new home that feels anything but new within its tight-knit community, offering a sense of generosity rather than luxury. The intention, care, artisan skill, and craftsmanship behind Mysa Hus embody that generosity.
